Thanks to Clævius productions and 611 Florida Ave, Mikroknytes kicked up a storm of sound and pixels in support of New Zealand's Birchville Cat Motel. Howard Stelzer from Boston began the evening with an improvisation using a series of tape decks. Rather than mixing extended passages the piece focused on the technique of starting and stopping the decks using extended periods of silence to augment the effect. Donna Parker followed with a buzzed out feedback thru stompbox noise set.

Mikroknyte John CourseyThe 'Knytes took the stage with Derek's Water Without Liquid video cycling behind Coursey. The quadraphonic sound made it plenty loud as the group employed a dual nord modular beat attack. Other components to the piece included the usual sonorous violin drone, processed thumb piano atmospherics, as well as a new Indian Tambura. Unfortunately both recording devices became possessed so the set was never captured accurately but the group has plenty of practice sessions on tape at their studio.

Thanks to Scott Allison for photographing the Knytes in action and the rest of the digital pix are taken by Derek. See the complete gallery »
